I am a software development manager with over 17 years of professional experience in the software industry. My experience runs the gambit from directing development for a tiny struggling startup companies to building and marketing applications for industry leaders in the mobile, enterprise, and consumer markets. My involvement with many different aspects of the software business has given me a unique perspective on software development that goes beyond just my technical skills.
I am a co-founder and managing partner of two app development companies – Exact Magic Software, LLC and Serious Monster – which together have created dozens of iPhone and iPad applications earning millions of downloads.
I am the principal consultant behind Fast Wombat, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in the design, development, and marketing of mobile applications.
I’m formerly Director of Mobile Engineering at Demand Media, Inc, where my team has developed numerous best selling applications for the iPhone and iPad, including the highly successful LiveStrong Calorie Tracker.
In addition, I am the author of Web Development with JavaServer Pages and IntelliJ IDEA in Action, numerous magazine and web articles, and have presented at Web Design and Development, JavaOne, Mac World, and other conferences.
